Digital Printing

March 25, 2015

Direct to garment printing, also known as DTG printing, digital direct to garment printing, digital apparel printing, and inkjet to garment printing, is a process of printing on textiles and garments using specialized or modified inkjet technology. All direct-to-garment printers have their origins in the desktop inkjet printer.

Direct-to-garment printing is commonly used on garments that are cotton or cotton blends. Typically, it is cheaper to print on a white t-shirt, instead of a dark one. However, it is now being accomplished by a number of manufacturers. Dark t-shirts must first be pre-treated which is a time consuming, costly, and hard to perfect process.

Digital printing process has been around now for approximately ten years. The technology keeps getting better and better. The digital printers are driven from a computer through software. We certainly can expect better quality printers in the near future.

When would it make sense to use digital printing instead of conventional screen printing? Digital printing typically is more expensive per piece price than custom screen printing. However, if a job consists of a low quantity, say less than 24 pieces, and the logo has multiple colors, then it would be more advantageous to use digital printing. With digital printing, there is no set up involved with screens. When a job is very colorful, you could use up to 4 or more screens depending on the logo. Digital printing works very well for photographs too.

Please give us a call for all your custom screen printing, digital printing, or embroidery. We look forward to hearing from you in the Columbia, MO area.

Types of Emblems

December 18, 2014

Emblems are made of fabric, backing, and merrow thread. They are perfect for almost any decoration need and method, including embroidery, screen printing, and sublimation. Typically, emblems are sewed or sealed to the garment with a heat press. There are several types of popular emblems.

  1. Embroidered emblems. These are often considered the gold standard for promoting a brand. No other type of emblem can match the durability and look of a custom embroidered emblem.
  2. Screen printed emblems. These are highly resistant to fading and offer unmatched color definition. If the person wearing the emblem does a lot of work outdoors or is exposed to the elements, a custom silk screening emblem may be the smart decoration choice.
  3. Sublimated emblems. Sublimated badges are a good option for designs with a large number of gradients, fades, or colors.
  4. Reflective emblems. Reflective emblems are useful for uniforms where visibility at dawn, dusk, or night in all weather conditions is required. This type of patch is in the safety category.
  5. Applique’. This is a very unique type of emblem that will stand out in a crowd. An applique’ patch is typically cut in a shape or follows the contours of a design. This is a very eye catching technique.

If you are in the Columbia, MO, we would love to hear from you to discuss all your custom silk screening and custom embroidery needs for your company or organization.

Choosing T-shirts for Customizing T-shirts

July 18, 2014

Choosing the best type of tee shirt based on the type of decoration for the custom screening printing and embroidery is critical. What works on 100% cotton doesn’t necessarily work on polyester or synthetics. Performance fabrics, such as moisture wicking materials, can and usually do require special inks and changes to setup before printing. These types of Tshirts are very popular with running groups and others because they are very comfortable as the moisture does not stay on one’s skin, but it is absorbed by the shirt as it has a breathable function.

Two things our customers in Columbia, MO will want to pay attention to most are fabric content and fabric weight. Embroiders will generally want a slightly heavier weight tee shirt or polo so they can run their machines at a faster speed with peace of mind that they will not damage the garment. However, many times embroiders work with the lighter weight performance tees. Silk screen printers pay attention to fabric content to ensure they are using the correct inks when printing.

Whether our customer wants a basic or a fashion tee shirt, there are benefits of using tighter knit fabrics, for not only the comfort, but also in the quality and durability of the decoration as well. We tell our customers to take special care in laundering their custom screen printed t shirts or custom embroidered tee shirts or polos by washing them in cold water, using a non-chlorine bleach, and turning them inside-out before putting them in the washing machine.

It all started about 18 years ago

May 28, 2014

I had what appeared to be a lucrative driveway sealing business .The reason I said it appeared to be profitable is that when the money was coming in it was coming in fast but then winter would finally arrive and the weather got colder. Then I went from putting in 10 to 12 hour days to doing absolutely nothing. Even though the work stopped, the bills did not. I remember how frustrated it was for a young kid with a wife and young daughter having to work so hard to try to save a little money and then winter came along and the savings were depleted. What it did give me was time to think and also time to prayer that God would give me a different direction regarding providing for my family. I remember going up to the mall and I was just people watching. I noticed that most everybody that walked by was wearing something like a custom T-shirt or custom embroidery hat. I didn’t know the first thing about how to do screen printing, but I believed that I was capable of selling it. So I got some business cards printed up and within six hours of knocking on doors, ended up selling my first job. At first I was elated, and then it dawned on me that they were probably going to want their T-shirts soon. I remember checking the newspapers for used tee shirt printing equipment and came across what appeared to be a good deal. It ended up being a homemade silk screening press that had been sitting in a garage rusting. They didn’t want much money for it so I ended up buying it. I put it in my garage and I remember the first time I pulled the head down. I let go of it and it catapulted the squeegee across the room, hitting the wall.
Even though I didn’t have much screen printing experience under my belt, I had a hunch that it just wasn’t supposed to do that. It was a piece of junk. Because of God’s grace my first job consisted of a white T-shirt with Red ink printed on the left chest. It was about as easy of an application as you can get. I still ended up ruining a lot of different T-shirts in the process, but I viewed it as just the cost of getting experience. Even though I ended up ruining a lot of T-shirts, my customer ended up getting this product delivered on time and in full. It also looked good. I ended up getting paid and he actually ended up turning into a repeat customer. I went to work for a competitor. I told him that I would be willing to work for free in exchange for just getting some hands-on experience and being able to ask a lot of questions. Eventually, I started to get the hang of it. I also learned what a decent tee shirt press looks like and how it should perform. Now I have a thriving business and the competitor that I went to work for has long since closed his doors. If you live in the Columbia MO area and you have a custom embroidery or screen printing project coming up, we would like to talk to you. We offer free shipping to Columbia, Missouri. How I got my start in the custom T-shirt business

May 6, 2014

Don’t you wish that you were one of those people who were just born with natural ability? You know who we’re talking about – the guys who never studied for a test and still aced it or the person who was blessed with a high metabolism so they can eat whatever they wanted to and never gain 1 pound. Life is not fair. I remember back when I was just starting out launch myself into the T-shirt printing industry. I wanted to learn so badly but I had no one available to give the valuable direction necessary. Effort only goes so far. If you’re running as fast as you can east when you should be running west, you are still going the wrong direction. I remember going out to purchase my first screen printing press. I found an old T-shirt press in some guy’s garage that he sold me for $150. I didn’t know a good press from a bad piece of junk, so I bought it. I put it in my basement and attempted to screen print my first Tee shirt. I remember bringing down the head of the machine in order to run my squeegee across the silkscreen and when I let go, it catapulted my squeegee all the way across the room and into the wall putting ink all over the place. Although I didn’t have much experience, I just kind of surmised that this was not normal. Fortunately, the very first job I ever sold, it involved a white golf shirt with a red image. This would have been considered as easy a job as you could find. If it would’ve been a black garment with a red image, I would have actually had to lay down two coats of ink in order to hold back the color of the black shirt. This process could not have done that. It would not hold good registration. After I would have printed one time and dried the first layer, a second layer would not have lined up. I remember for every T-shirt that looks good, we ended up ruining another one. I just viewed it as the cost of going to school and getting an education. The bottom line is we finished the job and delivered it on time. The customer ended up loving it and we got paid in full. Everything else was behind the scenes. We actually ended up making a repeat customer out of that guy. A few weeks down the line I came to the realization that I was not going to be able to earn a living from this piece of junk. I ended up finding a good four-color station previously owned screen printing press. It was nothing fancy but it worked well. I was able to print multicolored images on dark backgrounds and everything held perfect registration. I discovered that a used piece of equipment works just as well as something brand-new off the show room floor and I only paid a small fraction of what a new machine would’ve cost me. I was also made aware of the fact that new equipment devalues just like an automobile would as soon as it was driven off the car dealer’s lot. I later went to work for one of my competitors in order to get some first-hand experience. I told him that I would be willing to come and work for free in exchange for just being able to ask a lot of questions and get some experience under my belt. Looking back on that approximately 18 years later, I am managing a successful business and the guy that I ended up working for has long closed his doors. Buying T-shirts in Columbia MO

April 11, 2014

Are you in the market for a custom screen printed or embroidered
t-shirt? If so, here are a few tips when you are shopping for them in
Columbia Mo. Everyone wants to acquire the best deal possible.
However, the least expensive quote is not always the best quote for
you. Consider this. If a company gives you what appears to be a good
price, but doesn’t deliver your product in time, then that was not the
best deal at all. By the time you find out this information, it is
most likely too late to order from another silk screening or
embroidery company.

We recommend that you do your due diligence and find out some
information on the companies that you want to get a quote from. A good
way to do that is to check out the companies online. Do they have a
web presence? Are there any reviews, positive or negative, online? Are
they listed with the Better Business Bureau? How is their rating? How
long have they been in business? If you do your homework, you can
potentially avoid the chance of going with a screen printing company
that is going to do subpar work for you. We suggest that you get three
competitive T-shirt quotes. In that way, you can determine what the
fair market value is for the tee shirts in the Columbia Mo. market.
You want to be sure that all the businesses are quoting on the exact
same thing. After all, how do you know if you’re getting the best
custom T-shirt printing value possible unless you have something to
compare it to?

There are many checks and balances at our company to ensure that you
get a quality product in the time that you require. One of those ways
is to give you a virtual proof of your custom t shirt before we ever
go to press. In this way, you can proof our work to make sure that
everything is spelled correctly and laid out in the correct way. We
want you to be completely satisfied. That is why we take the extra
time to provide this to you. Not every custom screen printing or
embroidery company will do that.

If you want a quality custom screen printed tee shirt at a fair,
competitive price, and you are located in the Columbia Mo. area, then
please give us a call today. We welcome the opportunity to quote on
all your requirements for screen printing and embroidery. Give us a

Screen printing and Embroidery opportunities

January 13, 2014

I’d like to reach out to anybody in the Columbia MO area that has ever
even considered the possibility of getting into custom screen printing
and custom embroidery business. Let me first start out by conveying
that there has never ever in the history of modern man been a better
time than now. Technology has had a life changing effect on the way
that we go about living our lives and doing business is certainly no
exception to that. What a wonderful time to be an entrepreneur! There
are so many different aspects when it comes to running a successful
silk screen company. Let’s start with marketing. It’s my opinion that
marketing is the most important aspect in any business. Here is an
example. You could be the most accomplished screen printing company in
Columbia MO. You can even be the least expensive, but if you can’t
sell it and people can’t find you, then you are most likely going to
be out of business very soon. Never have we had such advantages as
these. Today’s business is done with the speed of light. The need for
opening up your phone book to find a Columbia Mo. screen printing
company and then getting in your car and driving to a physical place
of business are long gone. In these days almost nobody shops that way.
People do not open up the telephone book like they used to. In fact
most people don’t even own a phone book. It is usually delivered to
their front door once a year and then almost immediately ends up in
either the trash can or the recycling bin. Nowadays a person can shop
for almost anything from the comfort of their kitchen table simply by
getting on a major search engine and typing in a relevant search term
like T-shirt printing Columbia Mo. or embroidery company Columbia Mo.
That relevant search will take them to a landing page where they will
see other
T-shirt printing companies. They then scan on that page and click on
what is normally the first two or three websites that they see. If you
are not on that first landing page, then you are probably not going to
get that click. Very seldom does anybody ever go to the second or
third page. There are many ways of getting on that first page which we
will talk about in the upcoming weeks.

Implementing Flash

November 12, 2012
This blog talks about how to turn common run of the mill, ordinary images, into extraordinary pieces of art. There is a fast growing demand for implementing flash in order to spice up wearable items with the addition of rhinestones and glitter. The growing demand for this flashy edition is everywhere. Why didn’t we think of this years ago? Adding rhinestones makes it very simple to enhance a digital direct print. By implementing the addition of glitter and or rhinestones to one’s logo or custom screen printing, it adds a three dimensional component to a custom T-shirt that just plain ink just is not capable of replicating. This will also give your company an edge over the other silk screen and embroidery establishments. Coming up with the perfect tee shirt is a process. If you don’t get it right the first time, don’t give up. It starts with one design that will hopefully and eventually evolve into that perfect design. We encourage you to continue experimenting with these different applications in order to showcase these samples to your group members.
